Thermoelectric cooling.

Alright, most people know the standard cooling methods. air cooling is a tried and true method that has been used for decades. water cooling is now becoming more and more popular, but are there any other methods that can hit lower temps without costing nearly as much as water cooling?

Yes actually! there is. thermoelectric cooling, or cooling a computer by applying the peltier effect is a reliable method of reaching sub-ambient temperatures with spending less than 50 dollars!

so what is a TEC (thermoelectric cooler)? i made a video explaining the technology and included a real world example of one being used to cool a cpu.

As you can see, by using a TEC you can hit some low temperatures. but how much does it cost? well, in the above video, the TEC cost me 20 bucks (for 5 of them). the heatsink was 15 dollars, and back when i first purchased the equipment i also bought a power supply which was 50 dollars, however you can run it off of your computers power supply assuming you have about 100 watts or so to spare on your 12v rail.

next, i will try it on a gpu!
