Expect a break in posts.

on Friday, me and my friend decided to ride our bikes down to McDonalds... we stopped at a crosswalk, but the light was not changing fast enough, so he rode across to the median. there was heavy traffic in the other two lains, so he decided to ride back, but a van parked in the tun lain, blocking his view of traffic (and the traffics view of him)
he puched off to come back over to where i was without checking for oncoming traffic, and rode right out in front of a van. the van had no time to break, and hit him going full speed (about 45 mph). he was not wearing a helmet.
that's that a skull does to a windshield in a 45 MPH collision.

my friend was thrown from his bike, and hit the ground about 15 to 20 feet from the inpact. at first he was unconscious, eyes open, staring blankly at me... i expected the worst. i ran up to him, waving down traffic to stop. he regained conciousness soon after i approached him. he started screaming in pain and trying to get up. i held him down, and he rolled his head over onto my lap. he kept asking what he was doing in the road, where he was, and why everyone was standing around him. he was able to answer some basic questions, but was bleeding profusely from behind he left ear, forehead, and arm. he kept saying that his leg hurt and asking more questions. about that time, the first ambulance showed up... they took him and put him on the board and tied him down. i was forced to stand on the side of the street. more law enforcement showed up... in all 1 police motorcycle, 1 cop car, 1 undercover cop car, 2 fire trucks and an ambulance. i couldn't see my friend... nor did i know his condition.

i gave my report to the police officer and tried to stay as calm as i could. i asked one of the fire rescue members what hospital he was going to be taken to... i was told they were calling in a helicopter and being air lifted to a trauma center that was over an hour and a half from where i lived. yet they didn't know entirely... so i was forced to wait there for 30 minutes until they made up their mind on which trauma center to take him to. (there are 2 trauma centers around where we were, both are equidistant). as soon as i was told which one he was taken to, i rode my bike home and drove there, with his blood still all lover my arm and pants.  it was the worst hour 45 i have ever spent... not knowing the condition of my friend, and not being able to get there any faster.

somehow, he only had a small crack in his pelvis, and some cuts on his face and hand... he needed a few stitches behind the ear, and that was basically all that happened. he was released on Saturday... but the thought of all of this is still shocking... i enjoy blogging, but my file is full of shit at the moment... with college, certifications, high school, and now this... i need to take a break.

i already took pictures and a video of a speaker i made out of a hard drive... but its gonna have to wait... sorry.

Oh wow, that's truly horrible. Your friend is extremely lucky that he wasn't more seriously injured, but I hope he has a speedy recovery!

It's a miracle he wasn't hurt worse.

At least he'll probably be really pumped up with morphine for a while? Maybe? Silver lining?
